News: David Cameron pledges to address violence against women

On November 12th, David Cameron, Leader of the Conservative Party, announced significant new policies on addressing rape and violence against women.

These included:

  • A commitment to three year funding cycles for Rape Crisis Centres
  • Making it compulsory to teach young people about consent to sex as part of sex education in school
  • Developing a violence against women strategy
  • David Cameron said: “When it comes to ending sexual violence against women, we still have so far, too far, to go in this country. And to get to grips with the problem, I think we need to focus on three things.

"First, convictions and sentencing. Second, victim support, and third, cultural change in attitudes towards women and sexual violence”

Write to your MP to urge them to support these new policies.
