BHT clients have attended an event to celebrate their involvement within the organisation.
Over 120 clients came together to celebrate a successful year in influencing how BHT services are planned, reviewed and delivered as well as getting involved in activities such as intern placements, gardening initiatives and peer support.
BHT clients attended the event at the Brighthelm Centre in central Brighton where a range of BHT and external services were on hand to give advice and information and listen to feedback.
Musicians, a buffet, a quiz and a Tai Chi demonstration were also at the event to help with the celebrations.
The event enabled clients from over 20 BHT projects to come together to talk about their experiences of BHT and other services in the City whilst provided clients with a variety of information to help them to continue making progress in their lives.
The event also saw the launch of the BHT Client Hub; an area on the new BHT website informing people of client involvement opportunities at BHT and within the wider community plus a facility to share their experiences and give feedback to services.
Client involvement is far more than giving people a tokenistic voice. Effective involvement allows clients to influence what is planned and change the priorities and decisions of those who have traditionally held power.
For those in positions of authority this should be seen as a valuable part in making the best decisions and avoiding mistakes. After all, is there any one else who knows our services better than those who use them, day in and day out.
Wendy Taylor, BHT Director of Supported Housing
I think the Client Involvement Fair has been really good this year. There is lots of useful information and I have enjoyed the music and the food too. It’s good to see so many BHT clients here today.
