The Whitehawk Inn opened its doors as an IT training provider in 1999, working with unemployed residents of East Brighton.
In 2004, we changed our working model, moving away from direct training provision to focus on understanding the needs and wants of the community and to work with partners to develop and deliver a broader range of training.
Since 2007 we have extended the range of activities and service to support the people of Brighton & Hove.
Work & Learning
The Whitehawk provides information and advice about learning and work, and a range of support.
For people looking to go back to work we offer careers advice, employment support and a range of tailored resources.
Our qualified careers advisors can work with you to identify your work and learning goals, find the information you need to make a plan and support your next steps.
If you want to learn a new skill, start a different hobby, or achieve a qualification, enrol on one of our courses.
We offer a variety of courses from pilates to counselling. You can learn a new skill such as computing, writing and French or relax on one of our art courses.
We can organize free or low-cost childcare, help with course costs and exam fees and support you as you learn with us.
Preparing for Work
You can also join our weekly careers and job-search session.
Each week we will lead a workshop exploring the skills you need to apply for and prepare for work. You can access PCs for job and voluntary work search, applications, career research and to improve your CV.
Check out our jobs board for current vacancies and job market info.
Under the Moneyworks project, we can now offer free one-to-one appointments with our money advisor to discuss ways to manage your money, including online banking, price comparison sites and applying for benefits.
The Whitehawk Inn is so much more than a learning centre.
The café and garden provide a bright and relaxing space to enjoy a cup of coffee and catch up with friends and colleagues. Take a break from your course and enjoy a hot or cold drink in our brightly painted Internet café, or relax in our café garden, where both learners and members of the public are welcome.
We also have four flat screen PCs available for low cost Internet access and printing in the café area.
