We are looking for a volunteer to assist with gardening on Wednesday afternoons at the on the growing project at Richardson’s Yard, Brighton. The project uses vegetables and flower planters for the 36 residents of the yard. The volunteer would assist the horticultural therapist and project manager, Jess Bayley, in maintaining the crops, keeping the growing area accessible for all, liaising with, and encouraging participation from residents.

The opportunity would suit someone with knowledge of or an interest in vegetable growing; experience of moving from homelessness/vulnerably housed to independent renting and a desire to help others through peer support/mentoring. Also the volunteer needs to be able to keep a regular weekly commitment.

In return we can offer training, guidance and support, recognition of the role that you are carrying out, regular volunteer supervision meetings and the opportunity to make a significant impact to combatting homelessness.
