Brighton Housing Trust (BHT) is a leading provider of Social Welfare Law advice services within Brighton & Hove and East Sussex holding contracts with the Legal Aid Agency to provide specialist advice on Housing and Immigration matters. The service also operates 2 welfare benefit projects and 2 housing advice projects funded through alternative streams. BHT holds the Specialist Quality Mark.
BHT is looking for a Trainee Solicitor who is passionate about access to justice for vulnerable and disadvantaged people. The 2-year training contract is being funded by the Legal Education Foundation through the Justice First Fellowship Scheme. The training contract consists of 2 x 12-month seats in housing and asylum/immigration law with public law being undertaken across the two disciplines. The post holder will be required to undertake the training and casework. The trainee solicitor will be required to complete a project over the two years.
The post will be based in our Brighton office but travel to and work in both Eastbourne and Hastings will be required.Closing Date: Monday 16 September 2019 12.00pm
