BHIndy-finalist-logo-2016_W300BHT is proud to announce that it has been nominated for two Brighton and Hove Independent Business awards.

BHT’s Learning & Development Team have been nominated in the ‘Training & Development’ category. The team has been providing essential training to the voluntary sector in Brighton & Hove for over 10 years.  During this time BHT has established a reputation, both as a leading provider of community training and as an employer of choice.

BHT Training’s highly practical training programme is designed to support BHT staff and other local services to achieve excellent performance results and improve service provision across the city.

BHT Chief Executive Andy Winter has been nominated for a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his commitment to the local community, which has involved campaigning for change in the housing sector, championing the rights of homeless people and leading on innovative housing initiatives to combat homelessness.

The awards ceremony will take place on Friday 17 June 2016 at the Bupa Lounge Amex Stadium and will be presented by Nick Wallis, BBC One Show presenter and Channel 5 reporter.

Despite only being a small team of four, BHT’s Learning & Development Team effectively manage the priority training needs of BHT’s 250 staff across 20 services, each with different client groups and varying needs, as well as providing an essential service to the wider community through our annual training programme.   We are proud of our reputation, and the success of the service is largely due to the dedication and hard work demonstrated by the team.

Pascale Hart, BHT Learning & Development Team Manager

I am very humbled to have been shortlisted for the Lifetime Achievement Award.  I always thought that such awards are for people who are on their way out.  But more seriously, the nomination is recognition of the work that BHT has undertaken for thirty years and more to combat homelessness and creating opportunities for housing, recovery and employment. I am merely the figurehead of this great organisation.

Andy Winter, BHT Chief Executive
