BHT has launched a new service to support people in Hastings to access accommodation in the private rented sector.

The Hastings Housing Access Project (HHAP) offers help to  people who may not have the skills to seek, secure and maintain a tenancy in the private rented sector or compete with others in a stronger position.

For those with no record, or a poor tenancy track record it can be difficult to secure housing as a landlord might class them as too high a risk. We have identified excellent models of practice to help people overcome some of the most commonly faced barriers and developed these into our service.

Training, one-to-one support and drop-in sessions will all be available to clients as well as a sharers matching service, and a peer mentoring scheme.

For all enquiries about our service or to make a referral contact HHAP on 01424 452611 or via email

The project is based at the Advice & Community Hub, Renaissance House, St Leonards on Sea, TN37 6AN.

We are really pleased to launch this project in Hastings & St Leonards  and are confident that it  will help to break down the barriers that people face when they try to secure accommodation in the private rented sector.

Kay Reynolds, HHAP Project leader
