Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and Unsure (LGBTU) clients at BHT are preparing for their first ever Pride parade this Saturday.
This year’s theme for Pride is Gay icons and with this theme in mind, we are honouring the founders of the Gay Liberation Front (GLF); a group of activist who campaigned for sexual liberation for everyone in the early 1970’s.
We have recreated the look of the early GLF movement, by decorating the open top bus in GLF banners and themselves in clothes of the early 70’s.
Peter Tatchell, one of the early members of the GLF, will be visiting our bus before it sets off on the parade to chat with staff and clients and to share some of his early memories of the movement.
Over 20 members of staff and clients will ride the bus during the parade to show their solidarity and support for members of the LGBTU community in the City.
The Pride Parade will be starting at Madeira drive in Brighton at 11:00am.

At BHT we recognise that LGBTU people are often marginalised and can feel very isolated. We also know that LGBT people face a higher risk of becoming homeless in the City.
BHT is working hard to tackle both of these issues head on and being a part of Pride is a great way for us to support our clients and to help them to feel a part of something really special.
