BHT Hastings Services Celebrate Volunteers’ Week

BHT Hastings Advice and BHT Finding Futures staff and clients have attended an event to celebrate Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June).

The Advice and Community Hub hosted the event at Renaissance House to celebrate the 10,000 volunteers working in Hastings and St Leonard’s and to thank them for their dedication and commitment to voluntary work.

A large banner was displayed at the event with a ‘thank you’ message from the organisations who attended the event. 19 organisations attended the event from across the town.

We are lucky to have so many volunteers who are dedicated to volunteering their time. In return, we are able to provide them with a range of new skills and experiences which will help them with their own plans and ambitions in the future.

I know I am not alone in saying that without volunteers, many of the services in Hastings and St Leonard’s would simply grind to a halt. On behalf of all of the agencies that attended the event, I would like to say thank you. You may give your time for free, but to us you are priceless.

Jo Wilson, Manager BHT Hastings Advice Centre Manager

I volunteer because I had the spare time and I wanted to do something useful with it. Volunteering makes me feel like I am contributing to society.

I have learnt new things, gained new skills and met new people.
