QED Property in partnership with BHT has received the Inside Housing Top 60 Award “Innovative Development of the Year” for our shipping container homes project at Richardsons Yard, Brighton.
The judges reported that the Richardson’s Yard pop up homes were innovative, flexible and replicable. They also stated that crucially, the containers were refurbished to a high quality, overcoming potential problems to provide an interim solution for vulnerable people in chronic need of affordable housing in Brighton and Hove. Once again, congratulations to all involved.
It is nice to receive the recognition this award brings with it and would say a big thank you to Inside Housing, all the sponsors and judging panel as well as to Andy and his team at BHT and all involved from QED’s side.
While I am much more interested in delivering projects than collecting awards I do hope this award will be one of many as we continue to deliver innovative and sustainable moveable buildings
Ross Gilbert, QED Property
Personally speaking, I am thrilled that again Richardson’s Yard has been recognised on a national level for providing an innovative solution for Brighton’s chronic housing crisis.
I feel it is very important that QED is recognised for having the vision to make this development a reality, and I am delighted that BHT was chosen by QED as its partner.
Without QED we would have 36 fewer homes in Brighton that are available for rent within the Local Housing Allowance, meaning that they are amongst the affordable homes in the city.
