BHT’s START project has been nominated for a Sector Star Award.

The Community and Voluntary Sector (CVSF) awards recognise and give thanks to community groups and voluntary organisations for all their dedication, hard work and enthusiasm.

The housing and homelessness project is competing for the “Most Creative Engagement Method” award and is appealing for people to vote for them to win.

START works with people who have low level or on-going support needs; helping them to access and maintain Private Rented Sector accommodation and break the cycle of homelessness.

It works with landlords to source accommodation and match up tenants with landlords.

Once tenants are housed they are offered on-going support to maintain their tenancy to prevent homelessness.

We are delighted to hear that the BHT START project has been nominated for a Sector Star Award.

We work in a very challenging market in terms of accessing accommodation and so being creative in our approach has been essential. The project has been really successful and it is great to see this success recognised.

Alyson Kingsley, START Project Worker

Because I have secured accommodation and a base to work from, I have now nearly completed an Advanced Diploma in Health and Social Care and this has enabled me to get work.

It is amazing what you can do when you have a home.
