Full Marks for Men’s Confidence Workshops

BHT has received full mark’s from its men’s confidence workshops, with 100% of participants saying the course was excellent.

Support4Housing (S4H), a BHT service, made the course available after support workers at the organisation reported a large number of their male service users had confidence issues which were preventing them from moving forward with their lives.

The four week course tackled a variety of subjects from how to be more assertive, how to accept compliments and learning to take criticism constructively.

The courses were funded by the Community Learning Team at Brighton and Hove City Council and facilitated David Page from the Team.

You go in there thinking you’re the only one thinking what you are thinking, but you learn that other people are thinking the same as you, they just don’t always have the confidence to say it.

Tim, workshops participant

The course was really helpful for me; I would like to explore this more in the future.

Richard, workshops participant

The confidence workshops have been a brilliant success and the feedback from our participants has shown us that confidence can be a real issue for our client group.

We hope to run more groups like this with plans for an ‘assertiveness’ group and an ‘overcoming depression’ workshop both planned for 2013.
