Laura Maloney, a client from First Base Day Centre, has written and directed a play which will be performed this weekend as part of the Brighton Fringe.
Brighton’s Finest is a short play, based on a moving, true story about the journeys of two friends who become homeless and addicted to drugs and find their way into recovery.
The dialogue from Brighton’s Finest is taken directly from interviews gathered from a BHT Heritage oral history project which explored 30 years of homelessness in Brighton and Hove. The two main characters in the play will take the audience through their childhoods, street life, seeking help and recovery.
Laura has a background in acting and script writing and trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama. She was involved in the BHT Heritage Oral History Project and was trained as a peer oral history interviewer and conducted several interviews, two of which have been used to create the main characters in the play.
