BHT has partnered with the new Brighton Bike Share team to offer an exciting and unique opportunity to ride the very first prototype of the new smart bike.
The bike will be seen and available to ride for the first time at BHT’s Around the World Cycle Challenge on Sun 25 June. The challenge aims to raise £25,000 for First Base Day Centre, which supports people who are rough sleeping in the city.
Brighton’s new Social Bicycles smart bikes will launch in the city in early September and will be available to hire online and via an app. Bikes can be located on the app and picked up from anywhere in the city, or from the 50 docking stations which are being installed across the city over the summer.
We’re looking forward to the new cycle scheme launching across the city before the end of summer and are delighted to see it already supporting a local charity and helping to improve our community.
Gill Mitchell, Lead Member for Environment & Stability at Brighton & Hove City Council
As the operators of the new bike sharing scheme for Brighton & Hove, we’re looking forward to being a part of such an important fundraising event for the community. We are looking forward to supporting Brighton Housing Trust and raising much-needed cash for its First Base Day Centre during this phenomenal cycling event.
