BHT’s First Base Day Centre has new voluntering opportunities for support workers available in its morning rough sleeper’s session.
First Base is a centre that provides support to people who are homeless and vulnerably housed in Brighton and Hove. As well as showers, nutritious food and on site access to healthcare they also support clients to gain housing, employment and training.
This is an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting to gain skills and experience of working with homeless people in Brighton and Hove. First Base currently has vacancies for people wanting to volunteer in the morning rough sleeper’s session. You will be helping with the general running of the session and also providing one to one support to clients.
The role is extremely varied and you will be working with clients with a range of support needs. Applicants must be of a mature nature, be empathetic with the issues that homeless people face, be willing to ‘muck in’ and have good communication skills.
Applicants must be willing to commit to the same weekday morning between 7.30am and 12noon.

Volunteers play an important role at First Base. We offer support and guidance to all our volunteers and many have used their experience with us to move on to paid employment in the sector.
