shore-house-cqc_W220BHT is pleased to announce that its Shore House project swept the board with a ‘Good’ rating following an unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in May.

BHT’s Shore House project provides one-to-one and group support for 20 people with mental health and complex needs, including those with a dual diagnosis. Personalised support is provided 24 hours a day to enable people to improve their physical and mental health, and to progress towards more independent living within an 18 month timeframe.

The service is jointly commissioned by Brighton and Hove City Council and the Clinical Commissioning Group, and works collaboratively with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, and citywide Health and Social Care agencies

The CQC inspect services against five key questions: is the service safe, caring, effective, responsive to a person’s needs, and well-led. Shore House was rated as Good in all five areas.

We observed staff treating people with dignity and respect and involving them in their care. We saw people were supported by staff that knew them well, gave them individual attention and provided additional assistance as and when required.

The service was well led and had good leadership and direction from the manager and senior manager. Staff felt fully supported by the managers to undertake their roles. A person centred culture was promoted and embedded. There were robust quality assurance systems in place to ensure a high quality of care and support was provided.

My keyworkers have been very supportive and help me a lot. I have enjoyed the art groups and cooking groups and all the staff have been very nice and have made me feel at home.

Overall 10/10.

We are pleased to have received such a positive inspection report. We work closely with the people who use our service to ensure that we are meeting their needs, and utilise their feedback to ensure continuous improvement.

We want to be the service that really makes a difference in people’s lives, and to ensure that those who we support are living to their full potential, and progressing towards a more independent future.
