Based on combined learning from our project and others, we are offering training and development opportunities to homeless support projects across the city:
Who is this for?
Homeless and Housing Service frontline workers who support homeless people or those with a history of homelessness.
How will this help?
Using informed learning approaches, our training and development worker provides opportunities aimed at equipping and facilitating staff, to empower their client’s confidence and motivation for:
- engagement in meaningful activity
- overcoming barriers to accessing learning and work opportunities
- increased employability
- preparing to enter paid employment to support and sustain independent living

Bespoke sessions can be offered covering a range of areas related to work and learning for the homeless client group, such as:

- employability skills training and support

- practical considerations for starting employment
Collaborating and networking
Good Practice Sharing Network
Meet and share info, stories and good practice around engaging clients in community, learning and work related activity. Work & learning providers are invited to each meeting to share about their provision.
Getting Ready for Work event
A seasonal opportunity for staff and their clients to engage and mingle directly with a wide range of learning and work providers from across the city. Also liaise with well-being, life skills, benefits and money advice providers.
Pop-up info sessions
Onsite at your project or another suitable location
Learning and work related providers will engage directly with staff and clients to discuss their services and opportunities and sign-post to other provision.
Access shared news, information and opportunities
Regular news and info for frontline staff and clients including updates on learning and work opportunities, myth-busting, inspiration, staff and client stories and feedback on work and learning engagement for homeless and insecurely housed people.

Skills Development: Measuring Impact
Work and Learning Snapshot
Participate in the quarterly work and learning snapshot report which reflects levels of client engagement in meaningful occupation and work and learning activity.
The report is shared with homeless support service stakeholders across the city.
Annual Skills Development Survey
Your project can participate in this survey to capture how projects have developed their service and the way staff work with clients to increase engagement in learning and work.
Our Training and Development Coordinator: Anna Muten
Anna has over 10 years combined experience within a wide range of settings, providing careers information, advice and guidance and facilitating learning and development opportunities around community involvement, employability and work.
She is creative and innovative in her work, using a range of informed learning theories and approaches and always looking to offer training and development opportunities that best meet the needs of learners.
