Archway Wellbeing Volunteer

Job title: Archway Wellbeing Volunteer

Location: 57 Sackville Gardens, Hove Closing Date: Saturday 1 October 2022 12.00pm

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Wellbeing Volunteer who has an interest in mental health to join our team at the BHT Sussex Archway project. The Archway Project comprises two care homes in Hove for people with mental health support needs, rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission. We take a recovery and person-centred focus, enabling residents to move on to more independent living.

This is an exciting opportunity which will allow you to gain an in-depth understanding of a mental health service, while making a positive difference to people’s lives. As this is a flexible opportunity, you would be responsible for planning your own time with residents and choosing the hours that you would like to dedicate to our service. You will receive a thorough induction and training plan from experienced mental health professionals.

You can expect to spend quality time with residents which could include the following: playing board games, baking, cooking, taking walks in nature, exploring coffee shops, playing croquet, or participating in other recreational activities of your choosing (all expenses covered).

In this role you will:

• Receive a thorough and in-depth training and induction plan
• Engage in reflective practice meetings with the Volunteer Lead and work alongside other mental health professionals in our service
• Make a positive difference to the mental wellbeing of vulnerable adults while gaining a considerable understanding of mental health support needs
• Spend quality time with residents

Time Commitment

We would normally ask new Volunteers to commit to at least 4 hours per fortnight

Skills and Experience

We are looking for someone who has an interest in mental health needs, with good listening and social skills. You will have an interest in planning and organising your time with residents and an enthusiasm to get involved in various activities of their choosing. We welcome volunteers with lived mental health experience.

Practical Considerations

There is parking available outside Sackville Gardens. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed, and refreshments will be provided.
