We are hosting a client art exhibition in our Day Centre, First Base, this May as part of Artists Open Houses. The exhibition will be a multi-discipline exhibit with both art and written word on display. This year's exhibition is called Artists in Their Own Right.
This exhibition celebrates individuality, creativity, and personal expression. Artists in Their Own Right brings together a diverse group of artists, each presenting work shaped by their own experiences, ideas, and ways of seeing the world.
The dates for 2026's Artists Open Houses are:
- 2nd, 3rd, and 4th May
- 9th & 10th May
- 16& 17th May
- 23rd, 24th and 25th May
The aim of the project is to encourage clients across many of our projects to express themselves artistically in a variety of mediums such as painting, drawing, collage, poetry and journal writing. Exhibiting their artworks in public view will further boost their confidence.
We are part of the Brunswick Town trail which includes 12 other open houses in the local area.
Alongside the art exhibition, each weekend there will be a live performance for visitors to enjoy. These include:
- 2 May, 2pm - Paint an' a Reel - local band and Shoreham Folk Weekend regulars
- 9 May, 2pm - The New Note Strummers - guitar band whose musicians have lived experience of addiction and recovery
- 17 May - Choir with No Name Brighton - popular local choir, run in partnership with BHT Sussex, for people who have been impacted by homelessness and marginalisation
- 23 May, 12pm - Cascade Creative Recovery Choir - choir for those in recovery from substance misuse to connect through song.
