Fire Safety
Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility.
We work with fire safety specialists and the fire service to keep buildings safe. We check fire alarms, fire doors, and shared areas. These checks help us find and fix fire risks quickly and make sure homes meet fire safety law.
You can keep yourself and others safe.
Test your smoke alarm every week. Report any problems straight away, like broken alarms or damaged fire doors. Keep hallways, stairs, and exits clear. Do not block fire doors or store items in shared areas. Be extra careful when cooking, charging devices, using heaters, or smoking. Please note e-scooters or e-bikes are not permitted to be kept or stored in any BHT Sussex property.
If there is a fire, leave straight away.
Follow the Fire Action Notice in your building. Leave the building when the alarm sounds and call 999 when you are safe. Tell us as soon as possible.
