Job Description
Waking Night Support Worker
We are seeking Waking Night Support Workers to work with a wonderful charity combating homelessness, poverty, and marginalisation across East Sussex.

About the role:
As Waking Night Support Worker, you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission is ‘combating homelessness, creating opportunities, promoting change.
You will also be:
- Collaborating with clients to meet client needs by providing an empathetic and responsive person-centered approach
- Complete comprehensive risk assessments and support plans, reviewing and updating them as appropriate
- Work with services and professionals within Sussex
- Deliver support using a range of methods to ensure clients feel safe and secure and are treated with dignity and respect
- Forge partnerships with clients to deliver an empowering, positive, non-judgmental, and recovery-focused approach
- Support clients to engage in meaningful support – 1:1 or group throughout the night
- Administer medication to clients in accordance with policy and procedure (training is provided)
- Attend training, development, and supervision meetings as required
- Remain awake throughout the duration of the shift, including reset breaks.
- To use the Service’s manual and computerised systems consistently and to a high standard
About you:
To be successful in the role of Waking Night Support Worker you will have:
- Experience in providing emotional and practical support for at-risk adults who have complex needs
- Experience in collaborative multi-agency working
- Experience in crisis management and safety planning
- Knowledge of safeguarding issues in relation to adults
- Knowledge of associated support needs for individuals experiencing mental health and substance misuse difficulties
- Ability to respond calmly and practically to incidents and write clear case notes and incident reports
- Competent use of Microsoft software packages especially Word and Outlook
- Ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders
- Ability to work on own initiative and under pressure
- Good time management skills and ability to prioritise workloads
- Professional approach and attitude to supporting clients
