At BHT we are continuing to run our services throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, but we need your help. We have had to cancel our major fundraising events for the year, and urgently need to raise funds so that we can carry on supporting people who are relying on us now more than ever.
This is where you come in! The organisers of the biggest mass-participation sports events across the country have come together to create a new campaign to help UK charities like us. The 2.6 Challenge will launch this weekend on Sunday 26 April – what should have been the date of the 40th London Marathon – and we would love you to join Team BHT and get involved!
We’re asking you to take part in an activity of your choice based around the numbers 2.6 or 26 and fundraise or donate to support BHT via twopointsixchallenge.co.uk. This is a great way to keep you, your friends and family entertained during lockdown, as well as supporting BHT at this challenging time.
People of all ages are taking on the 2.6 Challenge with a host of activities – from walking, running or cycling 2.6 miles, juggling or skipping for 2.6 minutes, to holding online workouts with 26 friends, or online quizzes with 26 questions! The ideas and options are endless! You can be as creative as you like and it doesn’t have to be sporty. The only requirement is that you must follow Government guidelines on exercise and social distancing. Most people are taking part from Sunday 26 April but you can do your activity whenever is most convenient for you.
There are just five simple steps to take:
1. Dream up your 2.6 challenge – if you need help there are lots of ideas here and here
2. Head to twopointsixchallenge.co.uk to donate £26 – or whatever you can afford – to BHT or to set up a fundraising page
3. Ask all your friends and family to sponsor you and challenge them to do their own 2.6 Challenge
4. Complete your challenge
5. Share a photo or video of your challenge on social media with #TwoPointSixChallenge and don’t forget to tag us!
If you have any questions you can get in touch with us at [email protected]
We really hope you will join the rest of the UK and take part in the 2.6 Challenge as part of Team BHT – we need you! We are still supporting thousands of people facing homelessness, addiction and mental ill health in lots of different ways, from finding new ways to support our most vulnerable clients to launching a new online support platform. Please join in this fun fundraising challenge and help us to reach everyone who needs us.
