This week marks the annual Mental Health Awareness Week – a week to get the UK thinking about, discussing and destigmatising mental health, run by the Mental Health Foundation. The theme for 2025 is ‘community’, which recognises how important communities are for improving our mental health.
BHT Sussex supports the week every May as mental health is at the centre of the work we do with our clients. We are running a social media campaign which discusses our approach to mental health, and how we build all-important communities for our clients and tenants. For example, we foster community through activities and groups for clients and run community days for our tenants. You can read more about our commitment to community by following along with the campaign by following us on Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram.
As well as mental health being important to us as a service provider, it is also integral to us as an employer. We create a working environment that allows the community amongst our employees and volunteers to thrive. Our teams enjoy team building days every year and many choose to get out into nature, such as by walking the cliffs at Beachy Head, or having a picnic in a local park.
At the centre of our manner of working is the concept of PIE or ‘Psychologically Informed Environments’. We understand the psychological needs of our employees and champion continuous learning, encourage peer support and build strong interpersonal relationships. It’s through these practices that we not only strive for improvement but also aspire to continuously do better.
If you share our values about the importance of mental health and community in the workplace, you can find our current job vacancies here.
