Earlier this month, the Pathfinder and Be OK Team were honoured to receive recognition from the Mid Sussex Applauds Awards, which celebrates the fantastic work of individuals, groups and businesses across the vibrant area of Mid Sussex.
The service was runner up for ‘Service of the Year’ and received a ‘Commended’ certificate. Over the last year, Pathfinder have delivered many community initiatives on top of delivering a free and quality 1:1 mental health recovery service. These include our collaboration with Wakehurst to provide access to the beautiful nature venue free of charge for Mid Sussex residents and the delivery of further free high quality Peer Mentor Training Courses for Mid Sussex residents. We have also been connecting with members of staff at Mid Sussex Local Authority and sharing insights and experience regarding recovery services.
The recently retired John Stothard, who previously worked as a Recovery Worker at Pathfinder, was also a runner up for the lifetime achievement award. John is a Mid Sussex local and has devoted decades to challenging inequality and ensuring that all have access to timely and high quality support when they may need it. John has generously shared his passion for Tai Chi and shared the health benefits of practising Tai Chi with many Mid Sussex residents. We thank John for all his hard work and wish him well in his retirement.
Sean Sheehan, Operational Manager of Pathfinder and Be OK, had this to say:
It’s a recognition that truly belongs to the whole team: our recovery workers, managers and astounding volunteers all work together to make a difference. This award reminds us that even small acts, when rooted in compassion and persistence, can create real and lasting change. I’m incredibly grateful and inspired to keep going.”
