First Base Christmas Appeal 2024

Give the Gift of Hope this Christmas

No one should be homeless, especially at Christmas.

This Christmas, you have the power to change lives. At First Base Day Centre, we are often the first place people turn to when they find themselves homeless. We offer the essentials that many take for granted: a warm, safe space, access to toilets and showers, clean clothes, hot drinks, and nutritious meals.

But we do more than that. We help people move off the streets, find safe accommodation, secure employment, and access the vital services they need to rebuild their lives. Our aim is to move people away from homelessness for good.

Will you give the gift of a better future this Christmas?

How your gift makes a difference:

A donation of £30
could provide a personal care package for someone sleeping rough

A donation of £50
could provide breakfast and lunch for 60 clients at First Base for a day

A donation of £100
could provide essential support and advice to help someone secure housing

Thank you. First Base has not only kept me from the streets. You've helped me to change my life around. You've given me the ability to make the right decisions, not just for myself, but more importantly how to become a better parent.
Without the staff and facilities I don't think I would be able to cope on the streets. They have constantly provided essential emotional support as well as taking the time to make sure I have everything I need practically. It is not an understatement to say that they are life savers.
Thank you to all the lovely staff for their help and consideration.
It is a really healthy breath of fresh air - a really positive environment and the staff are great... I have gained insight into myself and my confidence has grown.
I have nothing but good to say. Very helpful and understanding staff who provide practical as well as empathetic support... First class facilities with medical and optical care.

Help us reach our target of £30,000

Today, homelessness is affecting more people than ever before. Families and individuals who never imagined they’d be in this situation are being devastated by homelessness. Recent figures from Shelter show that one in every 88 people in Brighton and Hove is homeless.

We need your help. With growing demand, rising costs and cuts to funding, your support is more crucial than ever. Please donate to our Christmas Appeal. Even the smallest donation can make a big difference.

Your donation will directly support those in need at First Base Day Centre, providing:

  • A warm welcome from our dedicated support workers
  • Hot meals, including a special Christmas dinner and a cooked breakfast on Christmas morning
  • Access to shower and laundry facilities, with towels, toiletries, and clean clothes provided
  • Medical treatment, including optician and podiatrist services
  • A dedicated caseworker for long-term support
  • Expert advice on housing, employment, and benefits
  • Ongoing support to help people move away from the streets towards independent, healthy lives
  • Access to activities, trips, and wellbeing programmes

Thank you for helping us to bring hope and change lives. Our supporters are at the heart of BHT's work and your kind donations make a huge difference. To find out what you can expect as a BHT supporter, read our Fundraising Promise.
