BHT Sussex in Focus exhibition launched in Brighton

We are delighted to share the news of an extremely successful opening day of BHT Sussex in Focus – an art exhibition featuring work by BHT Sussex clients and tenants. The event took place in the reception of our head office at 144 London Road and saw an astonishing number of 100 visitors enjoying the art, music, and cake.A room of 30 people eat cake, look at art displayed on boards in the reception area of BHT Sussex.

The works of 22 artists are on display and consist of a wide range of paintings, drawings, photography, and conceptual art. The collection showcases the amazing talent among BHT Sussex clients and tenants. Some pieces have already been sold.

Alongside the visual art, clients and tenants also present their talent in the form of the written word. BHT Sussex Kaleidoscope, an anthology of poems, journal entries, and other powerful texts reflecting the diversity of BHT Sussex. The collection is on sale throughout the exhibition for £7.

The highlight of the day was a performance by the Choir with No Name, who are made of people who have experienced homelessness and/or marginalisation. Their wonderful performance was received with the warmest enthusiasm from the public. As a result, the choir gained a few new members.

The exhibition has two main missions: to promote clients’ mental wellbeing by encouraging their artistic expression, leading to a confidence boost, and to promote the services of BHT Sussex among the public. As the exhibition takes place at 144 London Road, there is a display about BHT Sussex at the Jubilee Library inviting the public to familiarize themselves with what we do and to see the exhibition.

We’d like to thank all the projects involved in making this event possible and all the clients and tenants for participating and sharing their art.

Come along to view the exhibition which is open until Friday 30th May, between 10am and 4pm at 144 London Road, Brighton.
