BHT breaks its Christmas Appeal Record

We are pleased to announce a record Christmas fundraising appeal!

Donations and income from special events raised an impressive £37,490. All of this will support the work of First Base Day Centre, which provides basic services for rough sleepers, as well as comprehensive support to help people off the streets for good. BHT had set an overall target of £35,000 this year.

Nikki Homewood, BHT’s Director of Advice and Support Services, said:

We are incredibly grateful for the amazing support we have received over the Christmas period. Of course, homelessness and rough sleeping isn’t something that happens just at Christmas time. Our services are open throughout the year.

Last year First Base provided services to 1,113 people, 1,089 of whom were rough sleepers. Services included showers, food and drink, clean and dry clothes, and primary health care. Through the support provided by First Base, 222 people were helped to move off the streets and into accommodation.

Particular thanks must go to our friends at Big Egg Films who, once again, made our Christmas Appeal video, donating their time and expertise for nothing. We are so lucky to have great continuing support from them.

While our Christmas Appeal has now closed, those concerned about rough sleeping can continue to support our work, either through a one-off donation or by making a regular donation to our work.  Further details can be found here.
