Clients at our Detox Support(opens in new tab) and Recovery Projects(opens in new tab) have been working hard to create a new ‘Serenity Space’ in the project gardens over the past few months. These projects provide supported accommodation and rehabilitation programmes to enable residents to rebuild their lives following addiction.
Clients have been passionate about creating a quiet area for much needed decompression and have contributed in many different ways; from weeding and planting, to painting flower boxes, to repairing benches. They have also created pieces of art for the walls.
Mary Davies, BHT Sussex Board Member and budding gardener who is involved with the gardening project, said:
The clients now have a beautiful space which they have made truly their own. It offers a tranquil area to gather their thoughts, do yoga, meditate and decompress during the often emotionally turbulent treatment process. Feedback has been incredibly positive. I’m incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.
