Clothing, shoes and sleeping bags needed at First Base Day Centre

BHT Sussex is appealing for donations of men’s clothing, sleeping bags, jackets, trainers, underwear and socks, to help people we support in Brighton and Hove.

BHT Sussex runs First Base, the largest resource centre for homeless people in Brighton and Hove. Throughout the pandemic we have continued to offer practical essentials such as food and drink, showers and clean dry clothes, alongside in-depth advice and support to move people away from homelessness for good.

Guy Hayes, Operational Manager at First Base, said:

Things like warm clothes and shoes make such a difference to people facing homelessness, and we are in desperate need of these items currently.

Our services are in demand – last year we supported 524 people at First Base and we’ve seen a big increase in the number of people coming to the centre in the last few months. We want to thank our generous local community for their ongoing support, which makes our work possible.

Items can be dropped off at First Base Day Centre itself between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday at St. Stephen’s Hall, Montpelier Place, Brighton, BN1 3BF, or at BHT’s head office at 144 London Road, Brighton, BN1 4PH. Alternatively a range of particularly useful items can be purchased from our Amazon Wish List.
