Mayor of Burgess Hill honours BHT Sussex volunteers

Volunteers’ Week takes place during the first week of June each year and shines a spotlight onto the millions of people who volunteer across the UK. As part of our celebrations, we attended a reception hosted by Stuart Condie, Mayor of Burgess Hill.

The event was hosted in the council chambers at Burgess Hill Town Hall and was attended by volunteers from across the local area. We have a large number of volunteers in Burgess Hill because our Pathfinder West Sussex service is based there. Pathfinder has many volunteers, including a group of Peer Mentors who help people with their mental health struggles using their own lived experiences. BHT Sussex staff and other attendees present all expressed their gratitude for the dedication to their community that our volunteers show.

The event was also a great opportunity for our volunteers to network with fellow volunteers from around Burgess Hill over coffee and pastries. Many volunteers swapped contact details with each other to refer service users to other community groups.

We are currently one of Mayor Condie’s chosen charities of the year, so we will be hosting a stall at the Summer Fayre on Sunday 14th June at St John’s Park.

Thank you to all our volunteers past and present who have contributed to BHT Sussex projects and services!
