Pathfinder, our mental health service that operates across West Sussex, has been recognised with an award from Dr Tim Fooks, the High Sheriff of West Sussex, at an award ceremony last month at Christ’s Hospital School.
BHT Sussex Chief Executive, David Chaffey, and Senior Manager of West Sussex Mental Health Services, Suzie Mulhern, were in attendance to represent Pathfinder. The service received an award “in recognition of dedication and valuable service to the community.”
Of the reason for the award ceremony, Dr Fooks said:
This was an opportunity to try to capture some of the remarkable things that I have seen and experienced, the people I’ve met, the things I’ve learned, those activities that are going on around our county that really make me feel very proud to be part of West Sussex.”
The High Sheriff has been particularly interested in mental health services and initiatives across West Sussex, organising many conferences across the region which brought together community groups, health professionals, charities, emergency services and local individuals amongst others to increase the profile of widespread mental health challenges in the area and help source solutions. Suzie Mulhern assisted Dr Fooks in the organisation of these conferences using her mental health expertise and knowledge from Pathfinder.
An expanded version of Pathfinder was launched in December 2025, and brought on board new partners from the homelessness sector to provide comprehensive, coproduced community mental health support across West Sussex.
Congratulations to all Pathfinder staff and volunteers on this amazing achievement!
