Solar panels fitted to 12 flats at Cashman Lodge

Work is nearing completion on the installation of new cavity wall insulation and solar panels for twelve flats at Cashman Lodge in Hollingbury, Brighton. The work is part funded by a government grant from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund, which we match funded.

Staff from our Housing Services team, Chief Executive, David Chaffey and Chair of the Board, Kelvin MacDonald were given a tour and updated on the progress of the project by Aaron from contractors, Crystal, and Retrofit Coordinator, Alex Hunt.

Once works are completed, the electricity generated by the solar panels will be shared directly between the tenants’ flats using the Solshare system, making significant savings on the heating bills of our tenants. The new insulation and window installation will also keep flats warmer in colder temperatures.

Hayley, Daisy and Leigha from our Housing Services team have worked hard liaising with tenants to ensure the work has gone smoothly, and will be supporting them in understanding how the new system will help them save on their bills.

We are working on seeking funding to support further energy saving upgrades for our properties and look forward to future projects.
