Volunteers Thanked By The Mayor Of Brighton & Hove During Volunteers Week

Volunteers from BHT, marked Volunteers Week, 1 to 7 June, by attending a reception in the Mayor’s Parlour at Brighton Town Hall. Volunteers were thanked for their invaluable work and each was presented with a certificate by the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Dee Simson.

Last year BHT had 102 volunteers who gave a total of 7,246 volunteer hours.  These numbers include members of BHT’s Board of Management who gave 579 hours towards the work of BHT, an average of 11.1 hours each week.

Services at BHT that have made the most use of volunteers were the Detox Support Project, Fulfilling Lives, and First Base Day Centre, but most projects across BHT have volunteers helping to deliver services which all work towards combating homelessness.

Volunteers make an invaluable contribution to the work of charities in Brighton and Hove.  This is true also for Brighton Housing Trust.  Volunteers, many of whom are here today, make a huge difference to the lives of BHT’s clients and that makes Brighton and Hove a better place to live and work.

On behalf of the City of Brighton and Hove, may I thank you all for what you do in helping to make the lives of BHT clients better.

Cllr Simson
