BHT Sussex hosted a stall at the annual Burgess Hill Summer Fayre in St John’s Park yesterday which was greatly received by the community. We were excited to take part in this year’s event as we are the Mayor of Burgess Hill’s chosen charity for the year. It was great to engage with local people and share what services we operate in the area, namely Pathfinder West Sussex, Mental Health Recovery and Mid Sussex Supported Housing.
As well as finding out about our services, fayre attendees could also contribute to our community corkboard, answering the question, ‘what helps your mental health?’ We had some excellent answers from adults and children alike, such as reading, playing rugby, having a cuddle, exercising in nature, volunteering and seeing friends. We also offered mindful colouring pages, inspirational mental health cards, and calming teas.
We also took the opportunity to fundraise for our West Sussex mental health services by running a tombola. We were kindly gifted luxury locally made socks by Peper Harow. Some of which are being donated to our clients, and some are being used for fundraising. Attendees could donate £1, draw a ticket, and choose a prize if they chose a winning ticket. We raised over £120 with our tombola so thank you to everyone who participated!
We’ll be back in Burgess Hill this Winter to participate in the Christmas Festival and raise more funds for our amazing services.
